‘Underlying sadness’ on Princess Lilibet’s third birthday

Princess Lilibet is celebrating her third birthday at her home in California, but a Sussex source says the big day for the seventh in line to the throne has an “underlying sadness”.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “fake” and “horrible” on their trip to Nigeria, according to royal biographer Angela Levin. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were invited by Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff for a three-day trip. During the visit, Meghan shared insights about her children, Archie and Lilibet, and discussed mental health with school-aged children. Speaking to GB News, Levin criticized the couple’s appearance, calling it “fake and horrible”. She accused Meghan of being rude during an interaction with teachers and students, claiming that Meghan seemed disinterested and focused on posing for photos. “She was very rude, because one of the teachers was talking to her and there were two girls there politely joining in,” Levin said. “She wanted someone who could take beautiful pictures of her and Harry, and you think, my God, where are her manners?

The young royal, officially Princess Lilibet of Sussex, is expected to celebrate her big day at home in California with her parents and brother, 5-year-old Prince Archie, and the day will not be recognized by the royal family.

Royal expert Phil Dampier believes Lilibet’s birthday is likely to have “underlying sadness” due to the family’s falling out with King Charles, who has reportedly only met his youngest granddaughter once.

“It’s incredible that she’s already three, but there’s an underlying sadness, of course, because of the disagreement that the king isn’t seeing his grandchildren,” he told the Express newspaper on Monday.

“I think he only met Lilibet possibly once and Archie only a few times and they are seventh and eighth in line to the throne (sic), growing up in California on the west coast of America, with an American accent and just they don’t. see them.”

Unlike her brother Archie, who was born in the United Kingdom before “Megxit,” Lilibet was born in the United States after her parents left royal duties. She was named after her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Dampier highlighted that Lilibet and Archie effectively have no relationship with either of their grandparents and only have one grandparent in their lives, Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.

Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, never met his grandchildren or son-in-law, Prince Harry, after selling stories about his world-famous daughter to the tabloids before her 2018 wedding.

The Duchess of Sussex later admitted that her father’s “betrayal” was something she couldn’t “reconcile” during her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, coincidentally while pregnant with Lilibet.

“That’s the underlying sadness and whether they will ever resolve this rift we don’t know, but at the moment I don’t think there are many prospects,” Dampier said.

Lilibet and her brother gained the titles of Prince and Princess upon the death of Elizabeth II in September 2022, as children of the reigning Monarch’s son.

Harry and Meghan’s decision to grant royal titles to their children despite criticizing the institution and abandoning royal duties has confused many Britons and has been accused of being a cynical move by the Sussexes to capitalize on their royal connections.

Other senior members of the royal family, such as Princess Anne and Prince Edward, chose not to give their children any royal titles, which Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall attributed to their professional success.

“I was very lucky that my parents decided not to use the title and we grew up and did all the things they gave us the opportunity to do,” she told The Times last year.

Zara is arguably one of the most talented members of the Windsor family and won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics as an equestrian.
